Adapter to simulate CAN based Prof1 with a JS1H Joystick ?

Hello,

there are al ot of PROF1 in the field.
And some of them may be defect after a long time of life.
But the PROF1 Joystick is out of production.
The JS1H joystick is the next one.
But the communication is not the same.
So what can users do?

What do you think about an adapter to simulate the PROF1
with JS1H ?
Does anybody have done this?
Perhaps, if not, I will think about it, do programm an Adapter with an Danfoss Controller like MC024 or an Display.

Are your Prof1 joysticks identical?
There are many different configurations, particularly when it comes to communication. Are your Prof1s CAN-based?

yes, they are CAN-based.

Hello,
Why not modify the machine controller's program?
One option would be to use a parameter to select the type of manipulator.
Otherwise, an MC012 will suffice.

Because this software is not from me an sometimes no danfoss controllers.

MC012 has only one CAN port. I think, I need 2 of them, MC024-130 for example.
And then read the signals from JS1H and send it as protocol from Prof1.

Is this the solution? And has anyone her done this and can share the code?

I would go for a programmable JS1H, where you can recreate the messages (Option P2H in the modelcode).

What do you mean with "P2H in the modelcode" ?

Is it possible to configure the JS1H CAN -Joystick, so the user sees a Prof1 Joystick?

Yes instead of JS1H-XY-CJH
Mode code would be JS1H-XY-PWH or JS1H-XY-P2H

PWH = PLUS+1® GUIDE Programmable PWM, Hall effect
P2H = PLUS+1® GUIDE Programmable PVE, Hall effect

This model code is basically a MC012 internally.

I don't understand, what you mean.

My customer has a Joystik Prof1 CAN.
Now, I will give him a JS1H CAN.
But the protokoll doesn't match.
How can I configure the JS1H so, that it works like a Prof1 CAN?

What @Lukey means is that his joysticks are programmable.
So you can create a project using the joystick hardware:



Then you'll be able to interface it with your machine. 😉

Sure Both the PWH and P2H can be programmed at will.
JS1H-XY-P2H-S-NNN-TPR2-R-P1A-NNN-P1A-NNN-Y1A-NNN-Y1A-Y1A-Y1A-Y1A-NNN-Y1A-BRLN-NN 
or
JS1H-XY-PWH-S-NNN-TPR2-R-P1H-NNN-P1H-NNN-Y1H-NNN-Y1H-Y1H-Y1H-Y1H-NNN-Y1H-BRWN-NN
would be a close match

It doesn't solve your problem, but maybe contact the helpdesk/Danfoss.  They might have got a package with the software pre-written.
I would expect Danfoss to have a compatibility solution for issues like these.   The last NN could be replaced with something else to get the compatibility you want.

It's bad enough that they forgot to keep the mounting holes compatible.
The 2 mm should not have made the difference.

Writing a MC24-130 to interface will also take a lot of effort, and is expensive (extra wiring, hardware, points of failure...)
