Frequency on Multifunctional Pin

If I am sending pulses to a Multi input pin, is the module or controller doing the math to allow a readable frequency value  ???

Yes it is.
If you only need low resolution or there are plenty of pulses per rev, use the FREQ signal otherwise use PER to get decimal points of Hz.
