Hello,

has anyone tried using GUIDE and ServiceTool under Windows10?
I would like to update, but I am frightened of doing this, remembering the update to Win7x64 :o

Hello

Currently we have not yet fully-tested and qualified our PLUS+1 GUIDE tools with Windows 10 but we are working on it. The supported operating systems are stated in the release notes, so once you see it there, it is official.

So, I tried it on my own....
I updated one of our Plus+1 Laptops to Win10 and did some programming/testing.
I can't find any problems while using the actual GUIDE version.
Nevertheless, I keep on fighting on my Win7 machines.

I am running Windows 10 on my desktop and run the latest Guide and service tool, so far the issues I have found are two error messages that pop up when GUIDE is opened, first error is

Warning: GUIDE was not started with administrator privileges. Some functionality might be unavailable.

I set the application to run as admin.......does not work! Application will hang up!

second error is

Note: Only Windows 7 and Windows 8 are officially supported by this version of PLUS+ 1 GUIDE

I set the application properties to compatibility mode  Windows xp.....No go!  tried Windows 7......No go!  tried Windows 8.....No go!  Application will hang up!

in short ignore the messages and click OK and so far everything works as expected.  I have been running Windows 10 Using GUIDE daily for about a month with no issues.

What can I do, if I also have installed Win10 and I want to modify an old project with Guide 5.0.8 for example ?

Just a thought Marbek.
Windows 10 supports the hyperV virtuel machine.
I plan on setting up both XP and win7 virtuel images for this purpose, when I switch to win10.

Have anybody here tried this yet?

Hello,

I've just made the switch to Windows 10 and also to Guide 9.1.6 at the same time.
Within Guide I can not see my network drives.  In all other software on my PC from Microsoft and various others I can.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?

Regards

Richard

Hi Richard!

We have some information in the release notes for GUIDE;
"If you are experiencing problems accessing network locations, then please refer to this website: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee844140(WS.10).aspx
Preferred workaround: If possible, keep your PLUS+1 related files in a source control system, and only check them out into folders that are physically located on your PC.
Alternative workaround: If your IT policies allow it, then modify the UAC setting to its minimum value."

Are you sure you have sufficient administrator access? This is a common issue when not having sufficient administrator access. I think the definition of admin access could have been changed a little bit in Windows 10. I've attached a document for you with some steps to see you have sufficient admin access.

Hello,
now, Windows 7 is supported until 2020-01. Time to change to Windows 10 ;-)

What Windows 10 version do you use?

Does Guide and ServiceTool run under Windows 10 Home, Pro and Enterprise ?

Thanks

Running Windows 10 Pro here and have not had any major problems.

The only minor issue I have noticed with the Service Tool on some of our laptops is that the Windows display scaling needs to be set to 100% or the menu text in Service Tool will be blurred. Depending on the display resolution 100% is not always the Windows default setting and changing it to 100% makes text to small to read so you end up having to live with the blurred text in Service Tool. Not sure if this also affects Guide.

Hi guys!

@acmall both PLUS+1 GUIDE and Service tool have so far had the requirement of the display setting needing to be 100%. You can find the following in the release notes for them both;
"The tool only supports the setting "100%" in "Display / Make text and other items larger or smaller"."

@Marbek_Elektronik we support all versions of Win10 that run on the specified hardware (x86-64).

Please see the release notes (always found under menu Help in PLUS+1 GUIDE and Service tool) for more details!
