Title: Sensor Ground
Post by: dlewis on November 23, 2010, 07:29:05 PM
On the different controllers is Pin1 (Power Ground) common with Pin 9 (Sensor Ground)?  I ask this question because we use a temperature sensor that grounds through the chassis and therefore the ground returns to Pin 1.  I use a wide range of controllers from the MC024 through the MC088.

I don't want to say this for fact since my memory is usually pretty bad, but I think the sensor ground floats just a bit. This way they can keep a true regulated 5V differential between the sensor ground and sensor power. If it were tied directly to the MC050 chassis ground pin then there would be no need for it.

Hi!

The grounds are internally shorted together, there is not a difference electrically.
