Quadcount vs. Count
« on: January 23, 2013, 06:02:24 PM »
I have a quadrature encoder connected to C1-P24 & C1-P25 of an MC050-010 (yes, I have the FreqConfig set to 1).  I'm reading the frequency and quadcount values from C1-P24 to measure rate and total sum.  The rate measurement is coming out correct, but the total sum is around 2x the actual value.  When I switch my logic to use the count value instead of the quadcount value (all other logic is the same) the total sum is correct.  My understanding was that the quadcount would be the same as the count value, except with a negative value if it was going in the opposite direction.  Has anyone else seen this?  Is this an HWD file issue, or something (it's currently using v240)?

Hello,

The QuadCount is counting pulses on both input pins (A and B). That's why you get 2 x the actual value.
