Can I really not customize my gauges in GUIDE?
« on: August 14, 2014, 06:36:18 PM »
Do I really need a 3rd party program to do basic stuff like customize numbers, colors, and tick marks for my gauges?  I'm not a graphic artist.

UPDATE:  I've since found that I do need to customize gauges using some other software.  There are some documents from Danfoss giving advice on number placement and image layers for gauges, but this is just general advice.

I think most of us have figured out how to come up with a nice/simple and functional gage..

I saw in your profile you are a mechanical engineer so you may be able to do what I do for some of my gages.

I create some of my gages in CREO ELEMENTS (PRO/ENGINEER). I do the 3D model assembly so that the needle is independent of the gage itself.

I add the colors I want to see then I generate the 2D drawing and finally I export it as a BMP picture.

the good thing about this is that everything is to scale so when I import the pictures into GUIDE the pictures are the size I expected and the needle matches the gage scale quite good.

The picture attached is one of the gages I have done in CREO and use it in one of my applications I ereased some other gages and funtions due to confiadential stuff.

I hope this give you another prespective to generate your own gages

Regards

Antonio

When you use the new Vector graphics editor (DP7xx only) you can use the Danfoss supplied svg images available on the web site  (as attached example).
You can use something like Inkscape (free) to edit these svg images and even create images suitable for use with the DP6xx.

Thanks for the tips guys.  I actually created my gauges in a certain free 3rd party IEC 61131-3 programming platform and imported that.
