It would appear that page 10 is a bit misleading, or possibly even a typo. I went into the most recent templates of the 600, 610, & 620 and all use these pins strictly as digital in for an encoder input. I'm not sure why theses pins couldn't be used as just digital ins if need be, but I haven't read through the entire API on it yet; so I may be missing something in there.
