PVG32/120 PVEM Dither Freq and Amp Advice
« on: September 22, 2015, 07:44:22 AM »
Hello,

I am running some PVG32 and PVG120 PVEM amplifiers with a MC050-110. Does anyone have any advice on what I should set the ditherFreq, ReqFreq and ditherAmp variables to for ideal operation? I currently have them set to 0,4000 and 0.

Hello,

if you have set your PinConfig to 6 (PVE Output), there is no need to set or change the ditherFreq or ditherAmp value (so 0 should be ok).
The ReqFreq value of 4000 is also the right one.

Everything should work fine with these settings.

Hi,
it is not allowed to drive PVEM with danfoss controller. They are not compatible with plus+1.
Because may bei the vibrate, because they don't filter the input pwm.
Maybe it works a long time. Maybe it is better to use 4kHz then 1kHz.
But my understanding is, not to do this.

So who do I believe? The developer or the guru? lol

I was told by Danfoss this would work, I'm hoping it will

It's easy, please use the search function ;-)

From Moderator, Stefan:
"
Hello,
The output from the PLUS+1 controller is a PWM-signal usually 4 kHz. The filter on the input of the PVEM is not able to suppress this frequency enough so is will interfere in the control of the valve.

PWEMs are old valves designed to connect directly to Joysticks. So they see proportional voltage at the signal pin.

Hello Bryantmorris,

Now I have to agree with Marbek_Elektronik.
It is not possible to control the PVEM with PLUS+1 components because of the reasons Marbek already said.

I don't read the technical Information of the PVE exactly enough.

Have a nice day !

So the MC050, even when you select the PVE output on the multi-channel output, is simply a PWM output?

I'm wondering why I bothered learning to use plus+1 when I could of used any other brand of controller with a PWM output now. I was under the impression that the MC050 gave a voltage output when the PVE output configuration was used, hence the need to use a Danfoss controller to run PVG valves.

This is pretty disappointing.
