DP250 Power Consumption
« on: May 21, 2013, 02:42:56 PM »
I am planning to use a Sauer Danfoss in a battery powered application (using Ni-Mh) and I am thinking of using the DP250. The problem I have is the power consumption, from the datasheet it is 6.5W or about 677mA at 9.6V, this will flatten a 2AH battery pack in under 3 hours.

I was wondering if anyone on here has any experience of using these displays in a battery powered application and what advice they could give to extend the battery life, ideally the batteries need to last for 8 hours.

Any advice you could give would be appreciated.

I'd start with turning off the heater and reducing the backlight as much as possible (look in Outputs-->Display).  If you have the display driving any lights, then consider using a relay or LED to reduce consumption.

Other than that... probably not much you can do.

good luck...
