DP7xx labeling digits 0..9
« on: November 29, 2016, 07:32:49 PM »
DP7xx has no digits on side keys.

Is it possible to label digits 1-8 on side keys and digit 0/9 on Down/Up key ?

It would be much faster and easier to type a number by pressing one key after another than using cursor-method.

Is it possible to label this switches beside or on top of themselves ?

DP6xx has labeld the switches 1-8, but not 0 or 9. DP7xx has no digits labeld.

Are you asking Danfoss to print numbers on the rubber keys or are you asking if others do this in software?  If you mean adding numeric labels to the rubber keys, then it appears that the button markings are molded in, and with the flexible rubber I don't think anything (adhesive or paint) would last very long.

The DP7xx series includes touch screens, so you can make a numeric keypad like this one.

I just use the up & down keys to change parameters.  The longer the operator holds the up or down the faster the parameter changes.  Timers are used to increase the increment size and/or decrease the change period.  Changing parameters is very simple and fast, and so far all of the operators like it.  Although, they don't really like the small size and funny angle of the up & down buttons, but thankfully they don't need to change parameters very often.

I don't ask Danfoss, because there are only 10 Displays in 1 year.
And we can't use touch screens, because of dirty environment.
In past i also use this method: right/left-key to select the digit and up/down to change it in 1 step or in fast mode.

Perhaps I can use adhesive labels to put them near the buttons ?

I think, if there are a lot of parameters it is better to type the numbers like on a computer:
I you want "35678" you press "3", "5", "6", "7", "8" ready.
OK, if there is enough place in screen, I can use software digits to show the user the value the button has.
I hope, there is enough place.

I would be amazed if any adhesive stayed on those flexible rubber buttons.  I found that I could fit an amazing amount of numbers and gauges on a DP700 screen and it's all clear to the operator, so I would certainly try the software approach first.
