Long Compile Times with DP610
« on: September 18, 2012, 07:50:36 PM »
We have noticed an issue where it can take more than 5 minutes to compile a program for a DP610.  Eventually it will get done if you leave it long enough.  If you cancel and start over it could take less than a minute to compile the same program on the same computer.  If you watch the "messages" window at the bottom of the screen, it looks like something inside Plus1 Guide is randomly "hanging" near the end of the compile process.  We have noticed this problem only while working with the DP610.  - not to say that it couldn't happen with other units though.

Have you compiled it with the newest Guide Version 7.1.7 (beta) ?
If you have a lot of text arrays in your application, maybe the compilation time is now shorter.

I have a lot of Text arrays in my program.
The newest version 7.0.7.2 is much faster than 7.0.6 (8minutes -> 2 minutes)
Downloading to DP610 needs 5 minutes. It is a long time .......

Compilation time increases at DP610 to more than 10 minutes !

Since a few month I have reinstalled my laptops and now the time is about 4 minutes!
I use win7 and Guide 7.2.10.

I hope time will not increase to 10 minutes again.

I have a testfile generated and test from time to time if it takes more time for compiling. Since now: it is about 4 minutes, good!

Hi Bernd!

I'm happy to take a look at your project and the compilation time if you could send it to plus1helpdesk@danfoss.com.

Best regards,

Hi Nilla,

I have sent the file at 2016-01-11 to Stefan.

Now, I have test again:
Windows 7 and a lenovo L540:
Guide 7.2.10: 4:37 min
Guide 8: 4:39min, nearly the same time!

I will send the file again to helpdesk and please test compilation time in Windows 10. Thanks!

Hi Bernd!

I found that previous ticket and also a response to you from my colleague;

"Hello Bernd,

I think the Lenovo Win7 is the reason for your long compiling and save time. The laptop makers adds a lot of different "useless" programs that takes power from your laptop.

Can you ask the company where you bought the computer if they can arrange "normal" Win7 for you?"

I have received your project to plus+1helpdesk@danfoss.com and will begin testing now.

Best regards

I once had a similar issue, and it turned out that the Max CPU Level was somehow set to a silly low value of 5% or so, regardless of whether the laptop was plugged in or not.  The setting is one of the "advanced" settings under the power management profile setup.
