Title: MC024-020 LOGGING
Post by: Keithang on August 24, 2017, 08:29:10 AM
Hi Guys,

Is it possible to Log on a MC024-020? Want to log 3 inputs.

Nope.  You'll want one of the microcontroller models that is advertised as an "Extended Memory Controller" such as the MC024-118.  Still, you'll want to do some math based on what you're logging and how often and for how long to make sure there's enough memory.

You could "Log to file" using the service tool but you'll need a laptop to be connected whilst logging.

Is there an easy way to match the logs vs how much memory consumption I'm using? Just wondering

I would think that if you do the math based on the data type of each signal you're logging, how often you're logging, and for how long that you could get pretty close to total memory consumption.

Check this post:

That might help.  I did get an official explanation from the help desk, but I can't find it now.

You may want to consider having an external CAN bus datalogger as well as the MC controller.

This way you can take the data in on the MC analogue inputs (assuming that's where the data is coming from), then broadcast it onto a CAN bus to be logged by the other device. There is a lot of CAN bus loggers on the market with a lot more memory then the MC controllers.  I have set up systems like this previously with success.
