PVEB with PLUS+1 Controllor
« on: February 13, 2016, 03:54:42 PM »
Hi

I have found some used PVEB 24V electric actuators 157B4922, but can I use them with my MC088 like the PEVA 157B4734?
Attached is datasheet for PVEB 157B4922

Best regards
Søren

Electrically I'd say you're good.  The data sheet indicates that same signal range of 25% - 75% of the input voltage, so that's the same as a PVEA.

I'd recommend checking with someone from the PVG group to make sure that it can physically connect and work correctly.

PVEMs are not allowed to drive from Plus+1 controllers.
I don't know about PVEB, never heard.
I suggest to ask Danfoss, if Plu+1 and PVEBs are compatible.

Just a note about pvem

There has been a number of comments on this website about not being able to drive pvem coils with plus+1 controllers

Whether or not this is allowed or not, it does work. Done this with a mc050 a number of times. Naturally not as good as a pveh or a pves but it still does work.

Hello everybody!

Warning! PVEM is not PLUS+1® Compliant as you can read in our technical information for the PVE, Series 4 for PVG 32/100/120 and PVHC (520L0553 Rev 0605 November 2015) on p25 and you shall not use it together with our PLUS+1® controllers.

Yes, don't do it!
I have also done it, because at this time I don't knew this. And it worked.
But: I have also seen PVEMs, that doesn't work: There was a vibration of the valve!

I've used the PVEB without a problem.  In my opinion, the 'B' stands for "Budget" proportional, as there is no error feedback or LED.  Not having an LED is a pain.  And since they look like a PVEO (on/off), it's easy to confuse the two especially if they're nearby in the same block.  Which can make Bad Things happen if the connectors are accidentally reversed or mechanics install the wrong (but identical-looking) valve.  Don't ask me how I know...

I wish the Danfoss documentation would include the ideal PWM frequency as well as an acceptable PWM frequency range for this and all their proportional valves.
