Displays / DP700 "Unsupported data type PORT" **SOLVED**
« Last post by jrward1977 on January 05, 2022, 08:24:42 PM »
This is my first time using a display and I am trying to setup a j1939 tachometer as a "hello World" type program.  I am able to connect function block EEC_1Rx1 to "Port" on Can0, but when I try to connect "Port" in the query screen component I get an error message saying Port is an unsupported data type.  What am I doing wrong?

The advanced checkpoints can only use a True for False constant.

From the manual
The input to A2 must only be from a True or a False component; switched True and False inputs cause compiler errors

The compile process makes this component permanently:

Active if a True component is connected to its A2 input

Inactive if a False component is connected to its A2 input

Cannot be switched between active and inactive states by the Service Tool program or through an application

Checkpoints only load the bus when being actively monitored. Here is a link to another forum thread where this was discussed.

If you are having issues you could try reducing the number of checkpoints being monitored at the same time.

Plus 1 Guide crashes while compiling DM1000 project

Hello everyone :),

I've been using GUIDE for 4 years but since the release of the latest version I'm having trouble compiling a DM1000 project.
I made this project last year and compiled it on previous versions of GUIDE without any problems. Since I installed the new version, GUIDE crashes while compiling. This is no problem for other projects with smaller file sizes.
Now when I open that project with a previous version of GUIDE it also crashes. But in the background the compiler continues to work but GUIDE crashes.
I don't know if any other colleagues have experienced this problem or have any idea what could be going on because I'm a bit distraught...
I have attached the picture of the program size of the DM1000 project.
Thank you very much for your help!

PC specifications:
- Brand: HP
- Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-8950HK CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90GHz
- RAM memory: 16GB (64bit)

With best regards,

I guess I was a little behind on hardware files when I went to create a new display using the DM1200 for a machine retrofit. I loaded an old program using v243 after making some modifications and noticed the display would not power up. What I mean by this is, I turn on the battery master switch (ground side) and the display just sits there blank, no green led, no red led, just blank like its dead. I can pull the fuse then replace it and the display comes up like normal. I have this same display on 3 other machines and once in a while one will simply take a while to come on. I waited 10 minutes with power going to the display without swapping the fuse and there was no flash to life.

I realized I hadn't run update center in a while and saw the HWD file is now v305. I created a new program, copied my pages into the new program. Compiled and downloaded to the display, it took a few minutes as expected to move to v305 but when the Danfoss splash screen went away I am now left with a black screen. I can tell the backlight is on as I can see it go darker when I remove power. I put the previous program back on and it showed up with the fuse swap.

I thought maybe the display had an issue so I loaded the new program onto another display I have used since I first got the DM1200, this display had a working v243 program also but is powered off a 12 volt regulated supply for testing. Once I loaded the program in, again the display went blank.

I decided to see if it was simply my program so I created a super simple basic program with a simple single page. When I load the program, again its blank black screen.

Anyone have any ideas what is going on here?

I just double checked the revision history and between 243 and 305 the what's new doesn't seem to indicate anything that could possibly cause this issue.

I found the issue with the screen being blank on v305, there was a little page for doing PDF file reading and zooming. For whatever reason this must have been trying to load a file that didn't exist. Once I removed the page and reconnected defaults in the pdf reader the display loaded if power was not cycled.

I forgot to mention I am using a 24v to 12v converter. I have used them for years with ZERO issues, other than one mysteriously not working. I tried another new converter, same story, wont power up on master turn on but fuse cycle allows the display to power up. I installed a relay inline with the display positive. The relay is tied between the display power and the fuse. When the master is turned on the relay turns on then the display turns on, no timing, no special connection.

I hooked my fluke scope to the fuse output to see how clean the converter is and to see if there is some kinda spike or drop during power up, it just goes from 0 volts quickly to 12-12.2 volts. The power from the converter is quite clean, doesn't show a frequency.

I am stumped as to why the display needs anything to power up.

But who can use it?

Is there a license expire date?

My system is close to max CAN bus capacity and I need to turn check points on and off when using service tool.

Applying a constant True or False boolean can be complied but if I use a set value component or a switch between the boolean constant and the "Advanced Checkpoint with Namespace" the following error comes up.
  • ***Error 22 *** [CHPARGU2] ILLEGAL TYPE: {BOOL} ON COMPONENT: {Advanced Checkpoint with Namespace}, Entry A{2}

I tried compiling with Guide versions 2021.2, 2021.1, and 12.2 with the same results.

In the Plus+1 manual the A2 pin list Bool as a valid connection, is this intentional or is there a different way to interface with the check point to turn it on and off?

Use a text list in the screen editor and use the value connect to change the list var number.

I was trying to make an alarm block pushing some text to the screen on an input trigger.
The trigger and alarmtext are both inputs.

Now I notice that the value connect block is not possible to use with STRING data type. Using the switch function to put in the new value is not an option.
This gives me the "outputs connected on component" error which you don't have using value connect.

Somebody did this before or knows how to work around this problem?

Thanks for the information.

No way I'm adding an extra license for that though. :)
