Company Christmas parties in Sweden / Denmark

I've heard that in Europe company Christmas parties and other company parties are much more fun.  Can anyone from Danfoss Europe share some tips on how we in the US should be doing company events to make them more engaging?  Preferably someone who's been to both sides and has feedback from that experience
